Huong River (Perfume River) Hue - a silver sword upright to the sky

Perfume river has a very special meaning to Hue and the people here. It is truly an invaluable godsend since it helps create romantic beauties and unique culture for Hue. On the way from its starting point, there so many poetic natural beauties and historical constructions. Let open Google Map and take a tour!

Perfume River has its water from Truong Son Mountain. The two springs called Ta Trach (Left Tributary) and Huu Trach (Right Tributary) meet at the junction of Bang Lang fork (Tuan fork) and create the Perfume River.

View of Tuan Fork from Tuan Bridge. You will be amazed by this wide green view.

Tuan Bridge, it's a huge one.

Now let's row slowly along the river and discover amazing things.
Beautifully as well as mysteriously, the color of the Perfume River becomes darker when it runs along the foot of Ngoc Tran Mount - the Jade Cup Temple. Here lies a very deep abyss and the stream runs very slowly.

People gather in the river near the Jade Cup Temple (on the Ngoc Tran Mount jutting out into the river) for a festival on 3 July (lunar calendar). The Jade Cup is not only famous for its religious value but also its natural beauties and subtle architecture.

Ok, let's move on

Now, we reach Vong Canh Hill, which means a hill for sightseeing in Vietnamese. So, take a look.

The Perfume River is magnificent from its source, and runs among peaks, jungle trees and plants bringing with it fragrances of tropical flora. That's probably why people call it Perfume River. oh, now we're getting closer to the city. Here is Kim Long hamlet, which is used to be a famous urban center with many high-ranking mandarins and royal people living there. Kim Long still keeps many traditional values until present. The most remarkable values are beautiful virtuous girls, famous unique wine and ancient Garden houses, which attracts many visitors each years.

It's now really close to the City already, but wait! Let's take a look at Thien Mu Pagoda - one of the oldest and prettiest religious buildings in Vietnam.

Don't wait anymore, we're heading the city and the first beautiful thing is Bach Ho Bridge. It's a brand new bridge, which is officially opened in August 2012. Bach Ho is the biggest bridge across Huong River in Hue City.

Bach Ho Bridge is very special for its watch-towers. This is an ideal place for sightseeing and hanging around.

Passing this bridge, we're entering the center of Hue city. The forbidden city and Hue citadel is to the left and ahead is two other bridges.
Phu Xuan Bridge with its simple architecture.  A lot of people come here for exercise ground and fresh air in the morning

And the famous Trang Tien Bridge - Symbol of Hue City. More info about Trang Tien Bridge here

It is an everlasting joy for several generations of travelers who go boating to watch the lyrical scenery, to listen to the folk melodies of Hue in relaxing nights under starlit sky.

Now, we're moving out of the center and we now see an Islet called Con Hen (Islet of mussel) right at the center of the river.

The southern bank of the river and the Islet of Mussel

This islet is famous for its delicious specialties from Mussel and other rural ingredients. It takes time to taste them all, but it's worthy.

Ahhhhh, the Perfume river is really long and fascinating, isn't it. If we continue rowing, we will reach the sea but I think the remaining part is not so special. So we may stop here, we hope you have a great tour today.

Many people believe that Hue city has serene, mild and peaceful setting mostly thanks to the Perfume River. This river brings to the city a thoughtful rhythmical individuality and the pleasant-sounding limpidity exhaling from a land of age-old culture. We wish people can feel the way we do about our river.
